I'm sure some of these height categorisations are off, e.g. BE females are taller than human females. Male humans used to be in the 5ft10 region, they seem to be taller in the new models. The WRPG is not really canon material anymore.

Shouldn't the Trolls be the tallest specie in Azeroth? I've read it on WoWWikki...

Now I know you may still be at work updating this chart, but in game, even with the old models, the female draenei depicted are shorter than the male draenei. Why do you have them as taller on this chart?  Sure it's not by much, but a guildie of mine uses this chart as word of god for RP rather than in-game models.  From one of the notes in your description though, I see now you're looking into it a bit more.

I'm curious, though: What's your overall processs for determining this stuff? What sources do you use for all of these comparisons?

lol 'word of god'!??? omg you guys are hilarious XD I'm honored people are using this!

My process for this, way back when I did it, was about 50 screenshots (more for some of the close calls, less for the easy ones) of different races and combinations standing next to eachother in different lighting areas, plus next to a fixed object in Orgrimmar, and then cross-checking and marking each over and over against other races. It was a really lengthly process, and some of them ARE a bit wrong, like I said in the descrip above, I am looking into the possibility of importing all of the models into Rhinoceros and actually producing a much better, 3D rendered lineup of them at their absolute perfect heights.
I just do not have access to the proper resources yet. About a month ago I was able to finally find the draenei and blood elf models in what I thought was the proper format, but it turned out not to be right at all.

I know it is taking a long time, but I know how many people view and use this resource and i'm really flattered, and I fully intend to revamp it so its perfect as soon as I can!
Thank you for the feedback!

I personally don't use it, and rather I just use the WoW RPG statistics found on WoWwiki/WoWpedia, but my guildie piqued my interest in this, and I'd like to see more come of it.  I like the touch of having the different heights for the males of certain races that are very hunched over most of the time, but occasionally stand up much more straight.  Partly why I loved the Zandalari trolls in Mists of Pandaria, who stand completely upright all the time. Makes their heads look tiny, but dear god are trolls much more imposing when they stand upright.

hmm thats a very good question! I should put metric measurements on there too ^-^
I just did feet because in the WoW books it states the height of the human males in feet so I did all of them off that ^-^

I didn't expect for the Pandaren to be so big 0_o. Actually though that they were a little smaller. Was a bit of a surprise when I got side by side to one with my Gnome character XD.

This is a possibly insane idea for coming up with height. Use the fact that yards are used to determine the range of attacks and use a sample spell's range to measure the height of races against. It might be tougher to do but could work.

Thats an alright idea! It wouldn't be very easy though, the math is there but difficult, along with the fact that several of the races hunch, and finding the exact limit of a ranged attack isn't precise enough. Don't worry though, once I get the new models working for me and everything I'll be updating this ;D

I'd figure that the exact center of the characters at both ends would determine a precise range. That might not be so easy but it's a start if you want to try it out.

a small error on chart for worgen you put 6'7 cause they are hunched while for the orc you have their true height if they weren't hunched just saying cause worgen are about 8 feet without hunch. (note I don't go by ingame models but from what I've seen in the comics.)

The female Pandaren seems awfully short. Having played a female Pandaren in SMC...she feels taller than a blood elf male.

I was wondering if additions for Giant Growth effects could be made - mainly notes pertaining to them. The effect is listed as being a 30% increase. For example I deduced the human male as being 7'8" when buffed.

This has been one of THE MOST helpful things I have found in my researching of WoW races, but I'd like to ask one thing (if it's okay!) people often forget that jungle trolls (which the Darkspear are) are actually covered in a soft, downy fur, which gives them their color. WoWwiki for reference: www.wowwiki.com/Jungle_troll If you don't mind adding that to the trolls, I would be very grateful, but it's okay if you don't! I know you must be busy and get lots of requests.

Was looking for a good height chart for a while that also showned them when not hunched and while I commend your effort and you did a great job, there are a lot of errors when it comes to height of races.

:) I'm glad you and others comment here with stuff like this, and while I just can't update it right now, because I just don't have access to the stuff I'd need, In the future when I regain access, and can update it again, I'll be able to sift through all these suggestions and helpful notes, to make it even better!

(I'm working on getting some model codes hopefully of the actual ingame models, if I can do that, my goal is to use Rhino and flash to make an actual 3D, interactive height sheet for every playable race/gender. ;) )

When I finally am able to update it, I'll definitely let you know, and credit you for the help and resources you provided here :)

This is nice, though for roleplay purposes I think there could be some exceptions to all races even ones from other MMOs so :)
(and tabletop Dungeons & Dragons one could hybrid/crossbreed the different races and their subspecies)

I'm thinking about writing a fanfic/making a comic/fangame thingy... the fangame's currently iffy, but the others be likely.

I play many games. Would like something like this but with the other races added. As for the halfbreeds, depends on the parents' species.

(I'm thinking maybe The Elder Scrolls games' Elves aren't purebred Elves, like Half-Elf crossed back with a type of Elf species and that offspring did the same... - Because; facial hair options (perhaps WoW elves here too) where such like Dungeons and Dragons Elves don't or never did.)

I like looking for various races and their differences to other games, and also the animal-monster creatures because, who knows? These creatures could have once very well existed. (WoW's Plainstrider bird reminds me of our Casowary bird)
((if I could make a li'l thing like Discovery (Channel)'s "Walking With..." series, I would but more for fun than anything else))

Why are you telling me all this? Just explaining, or are you looking for someone to help you with the visual concepts? :la:

Bit of both, perhaps.

Just some things I notice and stuff, factions, alignments, etc., I tend to try n look at things from many angles, including the current state of that game's world, the storylines themselves, etc.

I like to think that there was a species/subspecies of T-rex without feathers. What if we got some Dinosaurs' bones mixed up?
I look at T-rex skeleton, I see the legbones positioned to bend like ours, however if birds truly are Dino Decendants, look at the ostrich or emu for example; which way does those birds' legs bend? ;D

math not my strong point, but Science on the other hand... :D

in the quick facts there are lots of mistakes: nelves and worgen don't have blue eyes, male draeneis are said to have horns but the haven't.... and so on. you should really read that again.
